  1. I've always undertood Verbatim ot be good quality media.....?

All the Verbatim media I've found in teh store is either MIT or MIS (Singapore).

Does there exist MIJ verbatim anymore if ever?

Is the MIT Verbatim that is on sale at Best Buy @ $14.99 for 50 worth stocking up on?

I always in the past could find MIJ Fuji's locally or MIJ Sony media but not lately and I dislike buying online to be honest about it. When I pays my money I want my purchase in my hot grubby little hands.

    Cheers

It generally is. Just make sure the media is actual "Verbatim made" (=Mitsubishi Chemical Corp).

You just have to be carefeul because they have, in the past, outsourced to CMC for their DVD media and, presently at times, outsource CDR to ProDisc.

I don't think so, but the MIS and MIT stuff seems to be good.

That is a good price, especially if it is 16X rated. I wouldn't stock up on 4X or 8X at that price unless you would go through them in a couple months.

This is true. MIJ is harder to find at B&M in 01/2006 than it was in 01/2005.

I don't even look at where the discs were made unless there is a thread somewhere I visit such as here that talks about media I own. The only Verbatims I have currently in use are DVD-R DL media in a 100 pack spindle. I've gone through roughly little over half the spindle. Media code is MKM 01RD30 which is Made in Singapore. No current problems to report. Zero coasters made.

  4. Bodysurf: Well they are 16X and the +R are
    Disc ID: MCC-004-00
    Book Type: DVD+R

ROF: I was wondering about the MIS discs, so no problems for you then is good news.

Maybe I'll go back and get a couple of hundred then. Hard to find decent media locally anymore.

    Cheers

CompUSA used to have SL MIS discs which were quite cheap and good. The verbatims I'm using are dual layer discs.

Verbatim 16X DVD+R is generally considered to be good stuff. I personally like Maxell, Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim.

I have bought the InkJet Printable version of them (Verbatim) for $42.00 at Sam's Club for a 100 spindle, and consider that to be a good deal for an everyday price. So, a 100 for $30.00 ($14.99 for a 50-pack) is certainly a good deal.

Incidentally, BestBuy currently has the same deal for 16X Verbatim DVD-R.

  7. I did know about the -R I just didn't open them yet, bought both...

Probably going back for more since the consensus is that Verbatim is good.

If you ever get bad media and can't return it for whatever reason you could always pass it along to someone else. Who knows their results may vary based on the hardware they are using.
