Sounds like you mean that it supports firmware updates. Go to their site and see if there are any firmware updates. Should also be update instructions. Also generally a CD is required, not DVD.

Sarmin - your question doesn't make any sense. What do you want? To upgrade the firmware? To install codecs? You can find some firmware upgrades at
    http://www.rpc1.org
Codecs can be downloaded at http://www.doom9.net

I am amazed that Packard Bell is still in business. I looked at their web site and it seems that while they long ago abandoned the North American marketplace, they still sell their products in Europe and other places. Their PCs weren't very good and used non-standard components (meaning you could not buy off the shelf stuff and make it work in their PCs - everything had a proprietary connector), so they lost marketshare in the US and left our market.

You don't put codecs on a DVD.

What codecs do you want? ... OR ... What is it you are trying to do?

PB's only in business in Europe it seems. And they use the brandname on electronics over there. That model number, according to Google, is a standalone DVD/DIVX player.

    Firmware upgrades are here:

The chipset wouldn't be able to handle AVC, none that are currently out can so it can't handle x264. To handle x264 you would need a chipset that can decode HP AVC.
