    TMPGEnc v2.50 - PROS/CONS Master List
    ------------------------------------------

    Add your pros and cons here. I'll revise master list, should there be
    one for us all. I'm hoping to follow this same format for future
    lists of this sort. ...else i'll just compile all the responses later.
    Thanks.

    Also, it might be helpful if you state your specs, ie,
    >> XP 1700+ in an MSI via KT133 chipset MB

    PROS:
    --------
    * Speed of encodes (for standard templages or VCD/SVCD)
    > XP...VCD= / SVCD=
    > dual...VCD= / SVCD=
    > P4...VCD= / SVCD=
    > dual...VCD= / SVCD=
    my XP 1700+ speed for VCD=N/A / SVCD=N/A

    *

    CONS:
    --------
    * Automatic VBR (CQ_VBR) is broken.
    Is stuck on 3000 even though user can
    change its settings, ie, 2520, will show up as 3000 in MPEG2VCR and w/ this
    tiny app by Mediaware, MPEG Properties v1.0, it shows 3000
    I use for quickies,

    * VFAPI Plug-ins
    this list seems to always change out of order, and is a pain to have to
    reset the order every new version! "I had a major hard time w/ this one
    being out of order for me and being that I framesever, it was a real pain
    in the butt to get working right"

    * [x] Source Range, under Advanced tab
    this feature has ben slowed. It now pauses during pgup/pgdn or lf/rt movsments

    * SSE
    though it is grayed out, it is ALWAYS on. I like to shut it off during some
    of my encodes. If I'm trying to compare my encoding quality, I can't w/out this
    option being non-updateable! Also, if [x] SSE box is checked, the DCT box under
    Quantize Matrix tab is fixed as being [x] checked permanently.

    * SSE2
    this box under the CPU tab seems to be grayed out. I have an XP, but was still
    grayed out. Not sure why though.

    * VCD Encode Quality
    1 - someone said that the quality wasn't so good as in previous versions.
    I did a quick test (12.28.01) and quality seemed ok, but then again, i'm not
    an VCD regular. I made xSVCD mostly. This does not include xVCD's.
    2 - I noticed that on some of my test VCD (standard template) samples, that
    in my bitrate viewer, it would show (104mb Mbit/s), but in MPEG2VCR, it would
    show 1.150Mbit/s rate. So, I'm not sure what to believe here.

    * SVCD Encode Quality
    I cannot comment on the quality (at least for my xSVCD encodes) because of the
    issue above (read [* Automatic VBR (CQ_VBR) is broken.] above)
    > CQ...
    > VBR...
    > 2pass...

    ** Please note, that the above are based on my system specs, and that could be
    the reason for all those CONS as a result.
    ** also, in the encoded samples, I used DVD rips and Satalete captures as my
    bases for these tests.

    I hope this helps us all get started is a master list for all to be aware of.
    I hope I have the right Idea peoples. . .

    The AMD Athlon XP only contains SSE1, thats why SSE2 was greyed out
