    Evening everyone..

I am having a heck of a time with this. I've been trying to play
a few .wmv movie files (from Pinnacle'w website) but my version
of Media Player v6.4.07.1124 won't play them unless I D/L the latest codec.
I've tryied searching MS site, but its too confusing to navigate
around in. fwiw, the sound plays fine, but no video. Anyways.

    Video File that won't play:
    ** The Studio Experience - 6MB video

Where can I find the .wmv codec to download ??
(any specific url link would be appropriate)

    .
    .

I've tried searching this forums tools sections, where I typied
in "wmv" but it gives me 0 hits.

I clicked on the "free codecs" link (left side links) and there is
still no listing for .wmv type codecs to download.

I'm now starting to believe that this is just an MS proprietory
codec and that they dont' want anyone even linking to the codecs
    to download

Also, I went to MS's site, to D/L, but they have too many links
to click one, and none of them seem to be specific to the actual
    .wmv codec download.

    Ok. Here's the scoop.

    Thanks jimmalenco, for your help.

As it turns out, I had the codec pack D/L'ed from previous search, but
that I did not install it. I installed the the v6.4 update, but I did
not complete *that* installation back then.. I remembered.

    Anyways..

The file prev D/L'ed was: wmp6cdcs.exe
I just installed it, and now my v6.4 player plays the videos
Course, I feel pretty stupid, hehe.

Basically, it was this link here that solved my .wmv video playing issues:

Note: If you do not have Windows Media Player 9 Series or later installed and cannot play content by using the Windows Media Video 9 or Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codecs from a Player embedded in a Web page, consider downloading the codec installation package for Windows Media Player 6.4 as well.
EDIT: - before I forget and loose my place in thought..

    -- OT ------

This was one of the videos I was trying to play earlier, but
    could not.

If anyone has any info on this video's origin, or other similar D/L
links to this type (Greek) videos, please let me know. I lost the
link to where I D/L'ed this one. It's a beautiful accoustic guitar
video, and I was sure there were others just like this one.

** The video filename is: K.Vita-Astro.wmv
