  1. Ok, not sure where this topic belonged but here goes.

I have started having a problem with burning AVI or IMG files onto DVD. The source when viewed is widescreen, however, when i burn to a disc it's showing as a stretched fullscreen movie. I've checked the setting on all of my DVD players and they show 4:3 LB which is correct as I do not have a widescreen TV. The strange thing is only one of my players a cheap memorex plays these discs correctly. I have a cyberhome and two Philips 642 that want to stretch these discs, of course the pc also plays them right.

Any suggestions, I've tried different media with the same outcome

    Thanks

More information needed in order to give you anything meaningful.

    1. Change your post title to be something meaningful and related to your problem. Most do read vague 'help' or 'strange problem' posts.

    2. What software do you use ?

    3. Are you converting to DVD, or burning avi files ?

If you are converting to DVD there are two places that store the aspect ratio information. The mepg files have them in the header, the DVD has them in the IFO files. IFOedit, amongst others, can be used to rewrite the IFO files to reflect the correct aspect ratio. Restream can be used to change the video, but you must demux it from the vobs first.

  3. Thanks for your help IFOEdit seemed to cure my problem. I guess my post was vague. I am burning AVI files (Divx) encoded to DVD. I've used WINAVI or Nero to encode. In the past never saw this occur before.

So I'm not sure that WINAVI is the culprit in what the final product ends up being, as I never experienced Nero doing this (changing the aspect ratio).

But I think I've solved my dilemma for now, not sure I understand what was causing it and that troubles me.
