erm.. i have a problem. i have some MKV videos where the audio is in AAC format. i demux them and try to mux the audio and video i want with VirtualDubMod, but VDM can't read AAC audio. so i tried convert the audio to both VBR and CBR mp3 with dbPowerAmp. problem is, after i convert them, the audio ends up shorter than the video length. so, when i mux the video and audio, i get off-sync audio.

so here's my questions: is the a plugin to make VDM or VD support AAC audio? if not, is there any way to solve my weird audio length?

i thank anybody who helps me in advance.

Use BeSweet to convert the audio and see what happens. NEVER use VBR. ALWAYS use CBR.

but besweet doesn't seem to support AAC audio. if i convert it to mp3 first then convert that again to mp3 or ac3 again then won't the audio still be of the wrong length?

You're right, It will OUTPUT to AAC, but it won't READ AAC. Darn it...

EDIT: Found an alternative, but it requires a piece of Nero (but everyone's got that, right? ) You also need to download the free Nero AAC plugin at

    http://www.bitburners.com/Software/Download/Audio_Software_and_Encoders/Nero_Audio_Plugins/

There's a bunch of other AAC plugins there that's also quite useful. With this
you can import/export AAC and almost any other format that you got plug-ins for, and that's quite a few, including FLAC, MP3Pro, OggVorbis, and more.

Oh, with the WAVE Editor, that is.

ok... i didn't even know about wave editor. :P

anyways, i seem to have a problem with wave editor. it can't detect my plugins. i've checked and rechecked the plugins folder but it just can't "see" the plugins. it's not just the AAC plugin, but others too. is my wave editor outdated or something? it's version 1.0.4.6

You DID put them in the Program Files / Common / Ahead / whatever folder, right? It's documented quite clearly... Putting them in the same folder as Nero won't work.

Hmmm... Worked for me right off the bat. I can then Open AAC files directly, and save as something else. WEIRD...

hmm... is my wave editor up to date? i'm thinking that it's too old to read the new plugins.

also, when i try to open a file, and get the open file dialog, i don't see AAC in the "files of type" list.

Is the aac audio actually the correct length? If your video is VFR then the audio and video won't match.

AVIMuxGUI can mux aac to avi.

yes. the AAC audio is of the correct length.

anyways i'm getting myself a copy of nero 6 through questionable means right now and i'll try avimuxgui as well.

edit: i just tried avimuxgui. the muxing works but something is very weird. i'm getting warped audio that sounds like it's getting played at low speed. very low-pitched voices and stuff.

the problem seems to be that whenever i convert the audio, it will become shorter. the video is 30:43, and the audio will always end up as 30:03, no matter what format i convert it to.

by the way i've gotten myself a copy of nero 6. it was because my nero was too old. sorry :P . but the thing is that even when i convert with wave editor, the audio still ends up becoming the wrong length.

is there something wrong with the original audio? it's ok during playback, but when i play just the demuxed audio in winamp, it says that the file is 31:16. and the progress bar keeps on jumping back and forth.
