I found one of these VCD players for PSX. It's called Topking PS Movie Card. I saw it being played on a chipped playstation, but it won't run on my non-chipped playstation. Do I need a mod chip? I'm sure that has to be the problem.

Yes it must be chipped. You can possibly do the "swap trick", but you might as well get it chipped. This is a case where a mod chip has a legally legitmate use. PSX's by default only play music cd's and official psx games, so you need the mod chip to allow the vcd to be allowed to boot up.

Actually I figured out the swap trick. You put in the PSX game, then after about 5 seconds it boots up to a blue screen that says insert VCD. So I did and it works. Hehe, I actually install mod chips in my town, I'm just out of stock.
