  1. Hi,

I have heard about multi-angle DVDs, but I haven't seen/experienced it even once. I tried searching a lot in market, but not able to find any such movie.

Even divxtest.com's DivXTest v2 CD is also not having those samples.

Any body has such movie / samples / trailers and willing to share?
Or any good links for download?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Regards,
    Jeyakumar

I have not seen a multi-angle movie, however many discs use the multi-angle feature in the special features.

    Some that do include

    Men in Black Special Edition
    Moulin Rouge
    The Mummy
    Stealth

Generally they are used to show progression of effects shots or multi-camera shots. I have yet to see anyone use it to truely affect the plot of a film.

Quite a few films use the similar feature, seemless branching, to either add deleted scenes, or even to drop out of the movie and view effects and behond the scenes material in context, then return to the movie. The Matrix does this quite effectively with the Follow the White Rabbit feature, and the video commentary in Finding Nemo uses this as well.

Yeah, Moulin Rouge has a great example in the "Making Of" section on that big dance scene of the Diamond Dogs. Very memorable.

Lots and I mean lots of DVDs use multi angles in the movie just to include section in other languages. Like how if you select the French audio track it plays the titles and credits in French instead of audio. Sometimes this is done via multiple PGC's and/or Titlesets but often it is done with one PGC and multiple angles. Not such a glamorous example... As far as the movie using multiple angles substantively, I can't think of any except those that specifically do seamless branching. I guarantee that there are some porn DVDs that have used it though.

Yeah, forgot about things like Star Wars, which replace the intro text roll the same way for different languages, although again, some ofthese use branching.

  6. Metallica's Cunning Stunts DVD has some cool multi-angles. During certain songs you can choose which band member to watch, it works really well and it was a very early example of a multi-angle DVD.
