Just started using dvdauthorgui. Using GIMP to create a still for a title set. Can anybody recommend a good font and size for good readablity?

I used a 32 point font, and the text looks too fuzzy.

Also it would be nice if dvdauthorgui would recover from errors without having to remux everything again. I had a file that trew an ac3 framing error. The first 2 of 3 worked fine, but it remuxed them again after i fixed the file and reran it. My current computer is a slow POS, so having to wait is a big deal.

Using GIMP you want to create a background shadow surrounding the text (not just to one side) that's feathered to ease into the background.

What some people dont know is not all fonts are going to be acceptable , some no matter the size just look like rubbish .

Actually I must ask the author this question later about free font's , I have about 250 I have used at various time's that work well ... if the correct size is used they dont send you blind anyway ..

As for the slow pc problem , it's easy , I'll have to do a quick guide on that one , still got 5 guide's being developed at the moment and some are long .

To get you around the problem :

Rip some preview's from dvd's ... yes bear with me , it may not be a subject for this area of the forum ... I am just going to point a way about for this question ... so dont bug me , guide's take time ... esspecially if they are to be acurate for all .

Ok , you have 3 title's , you need 3 preview's to replace them ... choose small previews for slow end pc's .

Use vobedit to demux the video and audio stream's from them .
Convert the audio to same format and kbps , I use ac3 at 96kpbs .

Having saved your dvdauthor project , open it , and remove all title's and audio stream's , and replace them with the new batch .

This will make authoring much easier for you .

Recheck the connectiom's and then let dvdauthrogui go to work .

    -----------------------------------------------------

Open authored dvd in pcgedit , and left click on first title .
Right click , and choose "blank out all vtst title's" .
    Box appear's .

Hopefully you have each of your title's with their ifo's ready .
(correct that problem audio first you had)

Choose the title that is the actual title 1 of your authored dvd in question .
And choose the option's I used in the picture .

    Repeat these step's for the replacement of title's 2 and 3 .

Pgcedit will question and make additional change's to reflect the modified title's difference's .

    Save dvd .

You should move that back up folder to another place otherwise when burning a dvd it may accidentally get burnt as well .

First , alway's play authored dvd's back before burning ... for trouble shooting of menu's , ect ...

If something not right , edit using pcgedit , save dvd when done , try again ... helpfull and fast when it come's down to menu item's not functioning well or as expected .

Play it again , if all is now ok , burn .

In nero , just add the content's of the authored dvd folder , and go .

In imagetool's , it dose thing's simple , but you must remove that backup folder ... a clever idea that was ... not .. I caught that once before .

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway , that's the quick method for slow end pc's ... not much to it .

Again for the font's thing , here is one of my chapter menu's created for the next guide , just to show you one of the free font's I used ... dont ask me what it was ... I got's thousand's of them ... but it was a free font I download sometime ago .

Oh , I bought this dvd , and for $35.00 , they didnt include any chapter name's , so I came up with my own ...

That's a background before the motion thumnails get added later using a modified script created by dvdauthorgui ...
