I have it as a file on my computer. Do you know a technique/software than give let me zoom in on him & perhaps keep some degree of quality?

In a spot and any help would be immensely appreciated.

Zoom in to a fixed point in the video frame, or zoom and follow the person around?

Most editors have a zoom or crop and resize function, but some quality is always lost during this procedure. We'll need to know more about the source video before we can offer any specific assistance. Check the file in gspot and post a screenshot.

    Good news and bad...

    Bad..
No, you can't keep the same quality..Of course you can zoom in, but the level of quality will have to be totally subjective..

    Good..
Almost any basic .AVI editor can zoom in, crop and enlarge or even dice, slice, and marinate..
Also, if your final output is for television, it can be quite forgiving, since it's interlaced (just like the original footage)..

    Good luck!!
BTW, i've never understood why anybody could like G.Gotfried..
    Squinty, annoying, and loud...

    Good luck!!!

    Letterbox?

Wider field of view expected, shorter frame means greater distance from subject is necessary.
