Should be interesting to try to follow this story (very near me, as well).

Yeah but i try to follow alot of news items and most always seem to vanish and you never find out what happened.
I also like how they spend like 10 seconds on the actual story with pretty much ZERO details and spend the rest of the time talking about bit torrents giving everyone a name to search for so now even more people can do it

As with me also....I live 30 miles SW of Kentwood, and I work in GR everyday, going to Kentwood on a regular basis.....I havent seen it on the local news though.Originally Posted by gadgetguy

Or how they always interview the resident computer geek who brags about how easy it is but just shows how little they actually know about the process. Was interesting to see a girl geek this time though.Originally Posted by Noahtuck

But Yoda would have a few hour (at least) drive where we would have a few minutes of driving, but i remember him complaining once about people driving too fast here on the highways so it actually might take him half a day driving like my grandmother, if he is allowed to leave home that long
Just messing with ya :P -
For those of you in Michigan, its no coincidence that this is hitting close to home. Note that the guy is being sued for downloading not uploading. The first real higher court ruling on P2P infringements just came down last month and it involved downloading, not uploading, and a Chicago resident. The law is well settled in this jurisdiction now (6th Circuit= Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee) and basically the courts have shown that they will throw the book at downloaders. That's why the suit is being brought here. You can probably expect alot more too.

I know that Stormin Norman is over in the Brighton area, so he'd have to drive a couple hours too. Still, it could be doable. Hmmmm...No Shit!!! i knew Yoda313 was in mich. and i saw, i think your location, but mich. is pretty big but i never knew there were 3 of us that close laugh.gif

Hell, I'm in.
I'm in N. Cali, so I could pick up the States-siders on the way, or I could go the other way and pick up the international crew (Can you drive to Oz from California?) -
Maybe with this car.(Can you drive to Oz from California?)

If the guy was smarter, he'd have downloaded the chapters of the movie individually and put them back together using DVD Shrink or some other free software. It's a little more noticeable when you're DLing multiple 7.6GB files over a period of several hours. That's like lighting illegal fireworks in the same spot for a few hours and hope nobody reports it or a cop doesn't see it.

Where did you get that? It's a little more noticeable when you're DLing multiple 7.6GB files over a period of several hours.
I didn't think they gave that much information in the news report.

gadgetguy sent me in this direction. This is rich. I don't live in Lansing anymore, instead Battle Creek. Still "close to home" for me. Everytime there is an article or news story about Bit Torrent it gets bigger. I personally love the stories about the big Torrent sites located in countries that are sympathetic with lax copyright infringement laws. I won't mention names but we all know who the real "pirates" are on the internet.

How big was the last movie ISO file you saw? Download 10 movies in 2-3 days and you're bandwidth is gonna show it. For a company it may not be much to see a spike, but for a residence they will take notice.Originally Posted by gadgetguy
