im using VOB2MPG to create one mpeg file from my dvd. i get a file around 2GB from my ~4GB dvd. doesnt this effect quatily?

no, it doesn't reconvert any video. but it doesn't not work with all dvds. have you played the mpg? is it the entire film?

so assuming ill watch the file and everyhing i want is there i should be fine (quality wise) right?
btw, its a simple dvd (converted from my 8mm).
no angles or anything fancy.

Looks to me like you have run out of disk space.
DeviceID: C:

Size: 37.2 GB
FreeSpace: 6.30 GB
But you only have 6.3GB. So it creates the first 4.47GB file but can only create 2GB of the second one.
For this conversion you would need at least twice the size of the original DVD spare (+ about 2% overhead) on the destination drive.SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
