    Hi,

I need a USB2 capture device that will work with a custom app that my company uses. I think the application needs to receive the raw AVI stream. The resolution and encoding options are selected from within this application.

In the past we have used ATI AIW(rage theater chips, the newer ATI cards do not work) cards, or Hauppuage Win-tv Go cards with this application, and they worked great, but I have been assigned the task of making it work with laptops.

The application captures both still images and short video clips (30 seconds) which are encoded to Divx.

I have tried the Hauppauge Win-TV usb, but it did not work.

Any ideas? I was going to try on of the Plextors next, maybe?

    Thanks.

I would look into the Plextor and the ADS Pyro DV unit's.

Custom app , require custom hardware .

The avermedia usb2 can perform the same task's in combination with ulead video studio .

However , this device require's 0.5 amp's drawn from the system's usb buss power , and I highly recommend that a powered hub be used between the capture device and the pc it is to be connected to ... otherwise a "usb power reset" warning may accure .

This device is "not" plug and play freindly .

When removing or installing this device , the pc should alway's be switched off .

My question would be (based on ati statement), if the app requires vfw drivers? If that's the case, should cut down your search time a bit.

I'm thinking it does. How can I tell if capture devices include them?
