I just bought a dvd writer for my laptop off ebay, I want to check if it has the technical specs, like drive speed, burning speed etc, that the seller said it would have. How would do I do that?? What software do I use?

Google is your friend.
Search for the Make/Model of the burner.
Or try the manufacturers website (although if it's no longer in production it might be hard to find info on it there.)"Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard
