  1. Hello there i hope you can help me, my post covers several discussion groups so please forgive me if this is on the wrong board.
Here is my dilema. I am about to buy a panasonic pv gs 400 probably a pal system camera as i will be moving back to europe in the next couple of years.
i have numerous ntsc vhs tapes that i would like to put on dvd but am not sure what is the best way to go about it. I understand that certain cameras allow you to use them as the analog to digital decoder but i don't know whether it would work with a pal camera, i mean would the result be pal or ntsc data? Do you think it would be easier to buy a seperate video decoder and use that for the vhs conversion? Would that also convert my pal dv to ntsc when captured to the pc? Does tmpgenc read both pal and ntsc data and if i'm not mistaken it does not convert from one to the other? therefore i would have to use a seperate method.
I apologise once again for the awlwardness of this post any help is greatly appreciated, thankyou.
    regards scotstrength

  2. Maybe a PAL VCR with NTSC playback support will do the job.
