  1. Hi all,

I have a folder full of home movies(200+) and want to encode them all with a TMPGenc template.

Is there a way for me to select all the files in this folder for a batch conversion? Instead of having to go through each individual file and add it to the batch list.

I have tried the batch list creator, but it doesn't seem to work with the new TMPGenc. I keep getting errors.

Please help my hard drive is filling up.

The reason the tmpegenc batch system works the way it does is because it assumes each job will be encoded with specific settings for that job, not 200 files all the same.

Are they DV AVI format, or something else ?
Are they edited movies, or just scenes split as they were transfered ?
Is the final destintaion DVD ?

They are *.mod files from a JVC HD video camera.

The seperate files are different scenes of different time I was recording, which I would like to preserve as chapters.

Yes the final destination is DVD I am using the KDVD template so I can fit everything on 1 DVD, If I burn the source files as they are I can only fit an hour or so.

I'm not sure this sorta turnaround trick may help...

How do I encode several video files to one MPG video file?
Can I open several video files with TMPGenc?
    How do I open an image sequence(DCP_0001.JPG, DCP_0002.JPG,DCP_0003.JPG ...)?
In TMPGenc under Option-> Environmental setting-> General, check the box for "Open sequence files as a movie". And then rename your movie source files like video1.avi, video2.avi, video3.avi (same name but with a number at the end) and all will be opened at once with TMPGEnc. Note that all files must have same video and audio settings.

You could rename your files as described, and then load them all into Tmpgenc.
By the way, must confess I don't know if Tmpgenc likes .mod files.

    HTH.

  5. Thanks for the help NormaJ, I tries it and it just make TMPGenc freeze and crash. TMPG works ok with encoding single MOD files though.

I think the key would be an update to the "TMPGenc batch list creator", to make it compatible with the new version of tmpgenc. Bujt alas I have no programming knowledge whatsoever.

Or is there any other encoder out there that can do batch processing, and use the KDVD TMPGenc template?

You can use HC v0.16 which supports KDVD natively. No need to fumble with any templates.

Just select "Notch Matrix" in the options.

Procoder can probably batch like this. Well, not KDVD crap, but normal MPEG encoding.

Procoder can also do several differing video/audio streams and bitrates at the same time.

I will not go into an argument with you about your constant negative post count against KVCD. But please go on, as it really helps the search engines!
Anyway, I would call Procoder "featureless", because it's a brain dead encoder that doesn't support custom matrixes. On the other hand, HC supports standard matrixes, Notch, many other custom matrixes, auto GOP and even rivals CCE in quality and it's now full DVD compliant.
The current version of HC supports the following matrixes: mpeg, hc, qlb, notch, jawor1cd, bach1, hvsgood, hvsbetter, hvsbest, avamat6, avamat7, and I believe more are currently available.
But then again, there's really no need to use so many matrixes, as the Notch is in there and that's all we really need
Oh, did I forget to say that Procoder is commercial, and HC is free?

    Cheers

  10. I didn't like the quality I got from Hc, it's a good freeware app and all but not the same as tmpgenc is all.
So I'm still on the look out to use TMPGenc for batch conversion.
If anyone else has a jvc hd cam what at your methods for burning or converting your files?
