Because Nero has reencoded it, possible changing the audio to LPCM. A little more detail might help us though. Are you just burning using Nero, or is a Nerovision project ?

  3. yes it is a nero vision project. i converted .rmvb file to mpeg2 using winavi and i limited the output file to 300mb(minimum) the output file plays fine, and when i add the file onto the project it occupies over 700mb

NeroVision has decided, for whatever reason, that it wants to re-encode your project. Unless you can turn off this 'feature' there isn't much you can do while you continue to use Nero. It has always had a habit of doing this, going by comments from users frustrated by the same thing you are.

Using a proper encoder, such as tmpegenc, cce or procoder, setting correct bitrates, and authoring with something that doesn't screw with all your hard work.

If you search the forums you will methods that do. Real Alternative allows avisynth to read rmvb files via the directshowsource method, which in turn allows these to be passed to any of these encoders.
