whats the best program to make custom DVD covers and cool graphic for sig? im trying to take the faces from this and apply them to a new backround. is there a trial for this?

If you're new to Photoshop, you won't find much help online. You need to go buy one of those "dummies" books to learn about the software (don't be a cheap ass, they only cost like $20 at most), and then play around on your own.

Then go look online for more advanced tutorials on very specific tasks. For example, not long ago, I went online and found a couple great guides on how to make stainless steel effects.
