  1. hi can anyone help with this,
i have some dvd-r verbatim blank discs and my dvd drive is a lite-on dvdrw sohw-1633s
i cant burn to these dvds at all but it works fine when burning to some dvd-rw discs that i have it just says dvd write error possible cause is bad media when i use these discs, i brought the discs back and got some new ones but the same thing happens.
im nearly certain it worked for one of them few weeks back, even tried rolling windows back but nothing changed
is it the discs are faulty or have i messed with some setting that stops writing to dvd-r? i tried using nero to burn them and a few others like clone dvd 2 and magic dvd ripper to copy the dvds i burned to dvd-rw
any help guys will be great thanks in advance if anyone can help.

You could try updating your dvd drives firmware.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

go to your dvd-drive's manufacturer's website and look for any downloads or patches for your drive.

The latest firmware for your Lite-On will provide you with support for Verbatim, Datawrite, Arita discs, HPs newer 8x media, Sony, and others for which this drive needs proper write strategies for.

Whenever you find there is media your drive doesn't write to, can't recognize, or has other issues with always check your manufacturers website for the latest firmware. Since 16x media is now starting to be produced by most of the major players I think quite a few of us may be visiting/revisiting our manufacturers sites for updated firmware.
