    Hi all,

I have a strange problem with the above DVD Recorder/PVR. I am feeding the output from the unit to the rest of the house via an RF Modulator. The system has worked perfectly with output from the Hard Drive, TV Tuner and Discs all showing correctly.

However, certain bought DVD discs are playing in black & white, BUT only through the RF output. This problem is only with certain DVD discs. The output from most discs and the hard drive is perfect. I have tried adjusting the RF channel very slightly but this has no effect.

What I can't understand is why the problem discs play in coour via the SCART output but not via the RF output through the modulator.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Are some of the B&W items in NTSC format by chance?

They are in NTSC format but so are the ones which play in colour! However ALL the PAL format discs play with no problems. The problems are only with those in NTSC format.

Why would NTSC format make them play in B&W?

    Thanks

    I'm a Yank.
My American Market DVD recorder and I now live in Germany.
I also have a mystery with Scart to RCA(cinch) and Scart to S-video and RCA cables.
I can only use this under certain circumstances....then that one under certain circumstances.
My recorder records in either NTSC or PAL.
I keep all of my "Scart to...." cables handy when dealing with a foreign format.
I've yet to work out a theory.
    You are not alone....

Thanks for the reply. Good to know I'm not the only one, thought I was going mad for a while!

If anyone comes up with a solution or reason why this happens, please let us know!

Presently I am using RCA(cinch) out from my Recorder(I have no scart on it anyway obviously) to Scart to the back of my TV.
I think I keep this cable connected to my recorder at all times because I cannot use S-video output on my recorder in any way because of the B&W issue....or other issues that I have forgotten about..
