Hi. I've received a Venturer PVS-123 portable dvd player as a gift. I have a Philips DVD recorder and I've recorded TV onto a DVD+RW, and it plays fine on the portable player. However when i use Nero and my Philips DVD ReWriter on the same DVD+RW to convert an AVI file to dvd format, it works on other DVD players but not the portable. It spins for about a minute and then says invalid disc. My question is how do I replicate the kind of encoding used by the dvd recorder with the dvd rewriter? This site says the player should work with DVD+RW, but it doesn't mention it on the box or instructions. Any tips? Thanks, Dean

An update to this: I thought I'd try writing to DVD+R discs instead of DVD+RW. This works in the portable player! Strange why DVD+RW work from the dvd recorder only though.

Just thinking out aloud. Could my problems be due to finalising the disc? Is this relevant for DVDs? I remember with CDs you needed to finalise so that it is compatible with other players. Maybe the dvd recorder finalises the disc but nero doesn't for DVD+RWs? Anyone?
