    Hi,
I have a files in .rmvb format. I want to convert it to dvd format.
    Here is my steps:
1)I used video fixer to process it, in case the files has something wrong
    2) use WINAVI to convert it to dvd format.
    3) use Nero smart to combine a few files into one DVD size and then burn it

But after I convert it to DVD. the picture split into 2 sides and left side goes to right and right side goes to left.
I am new to this. Can any one tell me what was wrong?

    Thanks

WinAVI is monkey crap. This has been well established by the number of posts that actually now contain the phrase "WinAVI is monkey crap". It doesn't get much more scientific than that.

The best solution to date seems to involve Real Alternative, avisynth, and an encoder. Search the forums and you will find details from solutions posted within the past two weeks.

    Thank guns1inger for quick response
My purpose was trying to burn it to dvd so I can use my dvd player to play it.
I download the real Alternative it is a player right?
Does AVISYNTH can convert rmvb to dvd ?
I just downloaded AVISYNTH and seems I do some reading to learn how to use it.

Real Alternative is a cutdown version of the real video codecs that doesn't require all the bloat of the real player itself. It also allows avisynth to load RMVB files as a DirectShowSource.

Avisynth is a frameserver. It loads a video, processes it, then passes the output to something else. It is scripted, has no interface, and can be daunting first time out. Have a read of these

    Hi guns1inger,
I have already tried virtualDubMod way from your link. the quality is good but it seems a little slow for me. I converted sample file (1'30" long) from that post, it took me 6 minutes.
Is avisynth quicker than virtualdubmod? ( i am going to try it out anyway)
Is ther any other way can make it quicker?

    Thanks

Already answered on your other thread.

I don't think there's much can be done about the speed. Takes me about 10 minutes to do that clip (see my profile for my PC) AVISynth is a part of the process. It doesn't convert anything by itself. It basically allows VirtualDubMod to read RMVB (which it couldn't by itself) and RMVB will turn that into an AVI for you.

If you want more speed, you can try one of the codecs that takes less time to compress, but transcoding will take time, and it won't be done in real-time.

In this case it is simply the encoding time, so as pointed out there is little you can do.

If you are using virtualdub as a filter and frameserver, then yes, avisynth is on average, 2 - 3 time faster, depending on the filters being used. In some cases is is many times faster. For example, blockbuster (avisynth) is around 5 - 10 times faster (and much better) than the similar MSU Deblock (virtualdub).

On the otherhand, for most filters in virtualdub the feedback is visual and immediate. Not so with avisynth.
