    I just D.L. the firmware for my dvd burner and i unzip the file and its a flash program. when i go to click on it my computer freezes. Any thoughts?

    No clue. Because of your lack of details in your profile, no info about this drive, where you downloaded the firmware, and what version and file it is, it's darn near impossible for anyone to diagnose.

    This wouldn't happen to be the 1693 external?

    Edit: If so, and you download the KS0a.exe file you can extract it and then run this. This update adds support for certain dual layer media only.
