I have created a slide show on a CD-R using Nero Vision Express 3. The format is VCD. I have played the slide show successfully using Nero Showtime 2.
My principal objective is to create slide shows that can be played on a stand alone DVD player. Mine is a Yelo 800 which plays conventional music CDs and commercial movie DVDs as expected.
The machine will not play the slide show. When the CD is loaded, VCD appears on the machine's screen together with the symbol that shows that it is playing but there is no picture. When PBC is switched off and Menu pressed, four items appear namely 1 Intro, 2 Disc, 3 Track, 4 End. When I press the corresponding buttons on the remote control, a blue screen appears and pressing play results in the home screen.
Several of your correspondents have referred to this machine and reported that it will play VCD.
I would be pleased to receive suggestions.

I'm afraid you'll need to find more detailed specs from Yelo to see exactly how to burn/create VCD's in order for it to work.
I personally have given up on VCD and SVCD slideshows....mine are all DVD slideshows now.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, Yelo seems to have gone out of business. I was hoping that one of the Yelo-owning members would see my request and would reply.

  4. Very Likely your disk is not VCD standard. Suggest try using other tools to create an absolutely standard VCD and play that.

Software playback tells you nothing, since almost anything will play on the PC. Standalone requires very strict adherence to standards.

Still-image qualtiy will be the same as a DVD slideshow, but NO transitions or the whole thing goes to 352x240, or 480x480 for SVCD.
