wmv files problems in power director3!!!

hi There...
I've a problem in power director 3 that I'm trying to edit some .WMV files
but as soon as I put the .WMV file in the video track to edit it...the whole
software(I mean power director 3)freezes and exit by it self...
and for your knowledge I've tried another type of files like .mpg or .mpeg
and even some other.wmv's and it works perfect..but many other wmv's didn't..
so what can I do???

Video files with the same compression or type can be quite different internally. If you can figure out the difference between those that work & those that don't, might be able to change the ones that won't. For example might be audio track, which is easier to change then video.

Otherwise, only cure I'm aware of is to run them thru wmencoder or convert to another format.

try dragging it into windows movie maker and see what happens
