    I have a divx movie that is widescreen that i want to convert over to mpeg to put on VCD. WHenever i do it it always distorts the picture from its letterbox size into more of a square shape. Is there any way of keeping the video in letterbox format so i can view the movie the way it was meant to be viewed?

    In TMPGEnc - Settings / Advanced, make sure you have these set:
    16:9 Display
    Full Screen (aspect ratio 2)

    This will make sure your VCD will come out as Wide Screen
