  1. I wasn't sure where to post this, hopefully this is the right place and someone can give me a straight easy answer.

I wanted to rip a DVD I have and be able to watch that movie in my IPOD to watch video (30GB).

How can I do this? What the best software out there for this? And what is the best step by step guide to do this?

    Thank you! 8)

And that's exactly why I'm asking for help. Too much info out there. I'm just looking for a simple and easy way to convert movies that I have on DVD to a format that I can watch on my IPOD. Unfortunately I don't have the time to try every single software out there to do this.

  4. Ok, so once I rip the DVD and have the files, all I have to do is use the Videora iPod Converter software to convert them into a file I can use to watch the video in my IPOD?

What's the best step by step guide for this process? Thanks again.

Thanks, I'm giving this guide a try right now. I'm on the end of step 8 (converting process). If this guide was harder than this one:

    easiest
the imtoo dvd to ipod , http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/139/59/

That guide must be a piece of cake. I'll let you know how it goes when I'm done converting. I don't know why but this seems way to easier than I thought it would be. We'll see what happens.

  6. Ok so far I tried one DVD to IPOD conversion and it worked just fine. Only problem was that it took a realllly long time to convert. I hope I don't have any other problems with other movies I try to convert.

Couple more questions though, what was the vob2mpg suppose to be for? I only used dvddecrypter and videora ipod converter.

So is dvddecrypter the best software to rip DVD's these days? I was using AnyDVD before. Wonder if there are any differences.

For free alternatives you may want to use dvdfabdecrypter as dvd decrypter isn't updated anymore.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

So dvdfabdecrypter is the best? How about for making backup copies of my dvd's is this good for that also?

Also what's the best paid software for this?

dvdfabdecrypter only rips the data off the disc so you can use it in other applications. If its single layer than you can rip and burn it to another disc with the same application. Otherwise you dvdfab to rip the dual layer to the harddrive and open it up with dvdshrink or another transcoder.

I can't tell you what the best paid software would be since I don't buy software to make rip and burn dvds, I use freeware - mainly dvddecrypter and shrink.

  10. I've been using Recode 2 in Nero 6, (although 7 is the latest version) and it's really Fast and as long as you choose the Standard Profile and set, the resolution and Bitrate correctly and select QT Compatibility, it all works great.
    Looks Great and it's Fast.

    Hi,
The file size will depend on the bitrate you choose for your MPEG-4 Encoder, as a very loose rule of thumb to get good quality your MPEG-4 file will probably be 20-25% the size of your original .vob DVD file.

I hope that somebody can help me here. I am desperatley trying to copy some DVD's to iPod for my son who has been bothering me since Christmas to do so. A friend of mine, through tips on this site, told me to use dvd decrypter and Videora. It works fine for him but whenever I open up DVD Decrypter I get a message in the log that says " Drive C:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB". Does anybody know what this means and is there anyway that I can fix this so that I may transfer the movies to iPod? Please, please, please and thank you.

    clonedvd mobile. much easier.

the error means that you can't create a file bigger than 4gb on fat32, it is required when you make one vob for use in videora. you can convert your partition to ntfs. search fat23 ntfs for more information.

thanks for the info but, not being an expert on the pc, how would i convert from fat32 to ntfs? Is it difficult and would it cause any other major changes in my computer. I wouldn't want to screw anything else up in order to do this. Please and thank you.

Wow, seems pretty intense to me. Like I said, I'm not the most computer literate person around so it is going to take a lot of reading and figuring out before I try this. I don't really understand all of this partitioning stuff. God, I hope I don't make a mess of my computer...lol.
