How does DVD-RAM Chase Play work? I recently bought a Panasonic ES-20 DVD recorder & am curious what technology is used in order to accomplish this.
I have e-mailed Panasonic & they replied that 2 lasers are used, one for write & one for play. The manual states there are two lasers, but different wavelengths & one for DVD & one for CD.
So if there are 2 lasers for DVD & 1 for CD, that means a total of 3 lasers in the unit. But Panasonic has never replied to this. I think it would be too costly to use 2 laser assemblies along with all their related hardware.
My next step is to open up the recorder & see what it looks like inside. From searching this forum it appears this already has been done. If anyone can explain how this function works I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Mike
