Batman backup grainy!!

I have been backing up my dvds for years now with excellent quality results however one dvd(Batman) still turns out grainy (very pixellated) everytime I try. I typically use DVDecrypter and CloneDVD to perform my backups. Batman decrypts and re-encode/burns with no problems but the quality is always absolutely horrible! never have I had such poor quality result except with this one disk.. Anyone know what could be going on here?

try dvd2one.
i did the quadrilogy of them recently,and all 4 came out qoute well with dvd2one.

I will try these other encoders. But does anyone have any idea as to why this one particular movie would encode poorly on CloneDVD when all the others turn out fine?

If you mean the very first Batman, I remember that being my very first backup using that one tool, I forget the name that used to sold at BestBuy for a ridiculous $99. Shortly after wards they got shut down. Results were very good. I have the original. I will try it on DVDShrink to ISO and burn with Decrypter.

Thanks guys, it turned out fine using a different encoder. I really would like to know why CloneDVD gave such poor results. I guess at this stage though the question is academic.

If this is the first Batman movie I picked this one up at Wal-Mart for a christmas gift for a friend for $4.99. You may want to make a backup by purchasing it at a bargain price.

Yep, that's it. It actually did work very well. But then better FREE tools came out that geame me more control over the backing up process such as DVDSHrink and DVD decrypter. The payware AnyDVD and free version DVD Fab Decrypter are are invaluable. It's all I need to back up anything I mey have new or old.

My own results using CloneDVD are that movies needing high compression turn out poorly. I use CloneDVD mostly for splitting episode disks.

I've used CloneDVD at around 45% compression with perectly acceptable results batman was around 55%>60% compression but looked garbage.. anyway shrink worked a treat so all is well. I just cant work out the "why" CloneDVD failed this once.. and I like to know why

Anything less than 85% compression and the results become unacceptable to my old eyes. Fortunately Dual Layer media has dropped considerably in price and is now readily available for backing up important movies that see alot of air time. Anything less than 85% must be left uncompressed in my opinion.

DVD X Copy was a great utility. A little on the expensive side (I paid $70) but at the time it did the job excellent.

. . . 85% does NOT look bad....even on a 55" HDTV(at least in my opinion...i'd have to say more like 50 or 60)........and on another note, dual layer prices havent really dropped that much...the only time i pick up dual layer discs is if i happen to find them on sale somewhere...and even then they are still several times the price of single layer discs......

My PC is now fast enough that I use Shrink only to reauthor or shave 1 or 2 % off the top. Anything else gets the Rebuilder treatment.

The original Batman(1989) I have was one of the first DvD's I owned.. and its on a single layered commercial dvd. So it was easy for me to back up heh. Surprisingly it looks near perfect on my 52 inch tv. I hear when they released the anthology pack they redid the first Batman and is on a dual layered disc.. however since I hated every Batman after the first one(including Batman Returns...remote contol peguins with rocket lauchers???) I have no intention of getting the anthology.

However if you're talking about Batman Begins(loved this one.) Alot of the movie is dark or at night and I find movies like that you can't shrink down too far or they start to pixilate like hell. Thats why I buy a spindle or 2 of the Dual layered discs when they are on sell for 2 bucks each. Most movies Ic an put on a single layered dvd.. if not back it up on a dual.
