    Hello,

I recently came into possession of the WMV9 DVD (WMVHD) of "Total Recall". Yet, when I try and convert this to DVD5 with, say, NeroVison, everything goes okay, except it defaults to the German 2.0 audio stream! And, for the life of me, I am unable to extract/burn with the English 5.1 audio stream (which is present, as I can select it in the menu on the disk, when I play it on my PC). I tried everything; TMPGenc, GraphEdit, etc; but all just see the German 2.0 audio (which sucks, of course).

So, has anyone here experience with converting WMV9 to DVD5? And, specifically, on how to choose the right audio track? Or perhaps the WMV9 file can be patched to default to the 5.1 audio stream?

For clarity's sake, I do not need to recode, per se; I just want to be able to select the \video\total_recall.wmv itself, and have it play the 5.1 English audio. I can select the correct audio stream in Windows Media Player, for instance, but I want to patch the .wmv file directly (or edit it with some program), so that authoring software sees the 5.1 English audio track as default (so that programs like NeroVision will use the new default 5.1 track).

    Thank you.

P.S. I hope this is the right forum; this question seemed to match several categories.

Hmmm... If you were in the US, I'd suggest buying the Total Recall DVD again, as it's only like $6 USD here nowadays. However, you are over there...

I think the problem is most programs simply default to the first audio stream that came along, instead of the one that's actually MARKED as the default audio stream. (ASF is a VERY complicated file format, from what I can see).

I have no suggestions as this time.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, I could buy again; but it is the principle of it. A great many WMVHD material is going to be available pretty soon. And, in the meantime, while buying the new stuff, I want to be able to burn DVD5s of it, so I can watch it on my current tv.

It is just simply too hard to imagine that nobody ever tried to convert WMVHD to anything DVD like. I'm sure someone's gotta be out there who did this before. :)
