No matter what I do I keep getting the same results. I’ve used different media, burnt at different speeds and upgraded my Player to one that I’ve been told will virtually play anything, always with similar results. Below is a previous post that I made explaining some of what I’ve been through. What I want to ask you is could it be the way I’m burning/ripping (I’m sorry you’ll have to explain everything to me in detail cause I ain’t to smart, I don’t even know the difference between the two). Here’s what I use and what I do and then like I said, my previous post will follow. I take the movie I want to back up and use DVD Shrink to Re-Author (I only care about the movie, unless you can tell me how to get more on one disk that is of good quality), then analyze it and put it in a folder on my Hard drive as an ISO file. Then I use DVD Decrypter to go their and burn it on a DVD (I’ve tried Verbaitm’s, TDK’s & Sony’s). The results are pretty much stated on this post below. Please tell me step by step the best way to back up a DVD and the software you’ve had the most success with. I am thinking that the problem lies in my burner, but still please tell me. I’m sorry this whole thing is so long, forgive me, but help me if you can.

    Previous Post:
I’ve checked out a bunch of players that will play my Burnt DVD-R’s. My original (a samsung) just didn’t work properly because of my media or my burner (a LiteOn-LDW-411S). I tried a few out a C. City and this seemed to be the best at playing them. Took it home and am still having some problems (digital bleeps throughout the disk and on longer flicks a lot around the last 10 min.) I’m beginning to think it’s my burner. I use Verbatims and by some of the posts I’ve read they seem to work great in this player. I’ve upgraded the firmware on my drive, but that hasn’t helped. So what I’m asking is this. I would like to have anyone who has had good results with this media and this player, to please tell me what burner they used and what they used to shrink it (the DVD), write it, and the speeds or any other vital information they can give me so I can duplicate it and live a more stress free life.
    Thanks Y’all

If you've done all you've said, then I suspect the burner also. It's not that hard to back up a DVD with Shrink. I've done it with about 6 different burners so far. Good to fair DVD medium. Never any problems.(Except for ArCoSS ) I'm using Prodisc 4X at present with a Sony DW-Q28A.

Errors at the end of the disc usually mean a media problem. I short my DVDs by about 150-200Mb just to be on the safe side, though I haven't had media problems. Just insurance.

You model of burner may not be the problem, it may be your individual burner. Manufacturers make mistakes sometimes.

I've used the same type of DVDs as you have and had no problems. Itoo suspect the burner is the problem. I use a 411 with no problems. I prefer Liteon burners. If you bought the burner and are sure it is a 411s it should burn plus and minus DVDs. If it not a burner you purchased and are looking at the model in the device manager, you may have a improperly hacked liteon 401. The 401 would only burn plus r dvds. I've seen sveral firmware hacks for the 401 to a 411, not all of them work.

That is a hallmark of bad media. Like Red says, don't fill your disc 100%, but keep @ 4.2 GB.

  5. I just wanted to say that I had the same exact problem. I even did the same thing and replaced my burner with the Pioneer 110D. Well after going through all the tests...it was the media I was using. I think they were Prodisc and now I bought some of the verbatim dvd-r's... No problems.

My big test was that cd-dvdspeed program. When I would run the burned dvd in the burner it would get 100% green, but when I ran it in my other dvd rom drive it errored around 70%. Now with the new disks everything is green 100%.

FYI Amazon.com has verbatim 16x dvd-r's 100pk half price with a $25 rebate. so its around 25 bucks for a 100. Not a bad deal.

    Thanks a lot.

Most of the discs that I burned using the 411S on various brands of media were bad. Of course I didn't test them at the time and now most of the data is lost. I switched to a NEC35xx...no further burn issues. That unit also had issues with the " burn proof" feature, anytime the buffer would reach 0 and the burn would pause, the disc would be a coaster.
