  1. Wonder if anyone can help me, l have a Toshiba A60 laptop which is just over 1 year old and has started to play up.Quiet often it just freezes up and say the ATI vag2 has a error and the display driver is in a infinate loop. The driver is a ATI mobility radeon 7000IGP and l have unistalled the driver then re-installed it with a back up disc but the problem is still there.l have been to the ATI site and tried to update but was not allowed as it says if the driver came pre-installed you must use who ever done this which is Toshiba, and l have looked for a up date driver but the only one is the same as the one l,m using.Someone has said l might have a corrupted file and to unistall the computer and to use the recoverey disc. Would this work, or have you any suggestions, please keep it simple as l,m a novice, thanks.

The above link has all your latest drivers. You might want to get a copy of these first. The A60 was an entry level laptop and there were a few known problems with it, including intermittent freezing.

However as you say you are experiencing full lock-ups, you should backup whatever data you want and try the A60 recovery CD. If you don't have one, you can buy it from Toshiba.

Taking it to a repair shop is a good idea but it costs $ ; so you might want to try these other options 1st.

If this has just started and your computer has been running fine up to now, you may want to also check out your memory. I had the same problem on the first computer I built years ago, and got the "bad video card driver" message (man, did I cuss out Gainward!) but it finally turned out to actually be a bad RAM stick. Google Memtest86+, download the free ISO and burn it to a CD, go into BIOS and set your 1st boot device=CD and reboot with the disk in the driver. Let it run at least 3 hours (I let mine run overnight) and if you get any error messages at all your RAM is bad. Even if it turns out that is not the problem, at least you know for sure now.
