Hey,
Ive got a video which i'd like converted to mpeg video. Its a .avi (uyvy).
Is there anyway (without buying an expensive plug in) to convert this from my timeline into mpeg?
Ive tried exporting it directly to lossless avi but the quality is not as good.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Which version of Premiere do you have? I know that in Premiere Pro 1.5, you can create MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 easily as long as you have already your AVI file on the timeline. I am not sitting in front of my own home computer now, but I believe that you go to File, then Export, and then Adobe Media Encoder. If it's not under Export, it is definitely under the File menu somewhere, and its name may not be exactly as I mentioned, but it is along those lines. If I recall correctly there are presets for MPEG-1 and for MPEG-2 and probably Quicktime, Windows Media, and RealMedia. Under MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 there are further presets for DVD, SVCD, VCD, etc.
Tools used: ScenalyzerLive 4.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Adobe After Effects 7.0 Professional, Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, IFOedit 0.96, DVD-lab PRO 1.53, Adobe Audition 2.0 -
Any full Premiere version from v6.5 on have the internal (Mainconcept based) MPeg1/2 encoder.
