You could try to contact someone at Hexus.net. There are some ATI guys over there.

aiw9800proman if I recall rigth you should be able to do 'real time' control over the filters in graphedit with video runing just apply it and wait about 3 to 5 sec but rigth now I can't test it for you becuases I'm buzy test some other product and sagetv linux and don't have any more system hang a round tp pop the 550 in to for testing that sorry.

  3. I think I may have a faulty card here. Ive just been doing even more tests in graphedit to try and obtain proof that the video filters are actually doing something and I managed to get a split screen preview with 2 different aspect ratios / resolutions displaying simultaneously !

Could this be the sign of a faulty chip ?

  5. hlrslcbr,

    Sent you a reply mate.

I can change mpeg settings in graphedit 'on the fly', the new settings cause the stream to reset. Still no luck with the filters and even less luck with official support

Not knowing whether im wasting my time with filters or not is soooo frustrating.....................

Yes, it works at last. I can change all the settings (brightness, gamma, etc) from MMC while watching TV, so if you (aiw9800proman) can't change them, then your card must be faulty.

  8. A big thanks for all the help im receiving on this

    hlr,

The brightness, contrast, proc amp settings have always worked for me but the comb filters and noise reduction filters (23 settings in total) do not work on any software, and that includes all the software discussed in this thread.

Can anyone confirm that they can change the comb filters, noise reduction filters and actually notice a difference ?

    shs,

The new mmc's offer less control over the cards features than graphedit.

This pic shows the filters I want to play with:

I tried all the settings at the max (putting 99 on all the boxes), and couldn't see any difference... .

  10. Yep, me too.

Ive tried every combination of numbers and settings that it will allow me to enter into the boxes. Also tried all of them on comp, svhs, aerial and catv through both avi and mpeg.

Me thinks they are all disabled.

What we need is an ati rep to pop in and say "hey, dont worry because all these features wil be enabled in the next driver update"

  11. This is one weird card !

My tests in graphedit have concluded the following :

The filters perform some sort of "auto filter" for the preview (which is non adjustable) and shut off completely for the capture (which is nonsensical).

I really hope ati release a driver update to fix this rather annoying flaw.

I have captured quite successfully with DVD MovieFactory 2.0. I have been able to change the filters. The ones you showed a picture of. (I only just changed them to see if I actually could, and I could) I have been very happy with the quality of the capture, so I haven't really messed with the filters. Visually identical to straight input from the tape (Hi-8/s-video). However, your selection of resolution and bitrates are limited. I just use 8000 CBR. But you can select capture fields and motion search can be cranked. I know it's an older program, but it was the only one I could find that worked at all, until mmc 9.13 came out. I only use dvdmf 2.0 to capture then I exit the program. Christv worked as well, and I think you can adjust those filters you mentioned but it costs $50, and I already owned movie factory

I know the changing the filters has some effect on capturing in virtualdub because I was capturing a source and it was producing a weird sort of ghosting effect. after asking about it here someone said it sounded like a luminance issue. I went into the filters shown above and set everything to zero and capped again. I no longer had the weird effects. nothing else was changed.

  14. Final update:

Sapphire have finally responded with this "the filters dont work with graphedit" I waited 3 weeks for that reply !

Ati have responded with "As we dont support graph edit can we suggest you goto rage3d forums to get this sorted" at least they have suggested a forum worth visiting, but both companies have completely missed my main question - "do the filters work at all, are they available in the u.k., are they supposed to be adjustable in any way".

My own extensive, exhausting and timewasting tests have prooved the following for my card :

The filters are non adjustable in any program.
The filters do appear to perform some sort of cean up for preview mode.
The filters are completely non-existent in capture mode, difference is visible on screen with graphedit showing both preview and capture simultaneously.

These are my last words on this subject, I am returning the card and possibly returning the pinnacle card I purchased today to replace it !

    Nuff said,

Thanks to all who contributed on this.

Any idea how to capture more than 30 minutes using MMC 9.13? I setup the one touch recording, however it always displays a recording time of 30 minutes, regardless of format, available HD space, etc.
