I've tried many programs and methods to Rip then compress and then burn to DVD. Most recently I've been using CloneDVD2 to Rip, Compress and then create an iso image. Then I burn it with Alcohol 120%. I get the best results using this method but I still get digital noise usually in the last chapters of the movie on about 1 out of 3 backups. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?
    Thank you

Digital noise as in macroblocking from too much compression?

for future reference, you can't use tags in the thread title (unless you're Baldrick).

Any time you get ANY problems around the end of the disc, it means bad media. "Bad media" basically usually translates to uneven dye distribution around the outer edges, that's why it's always the last chapters that are affected . Use genuine Taiyo Yuden and you should not see this any more.

Another suggestion which works for me 100% of the time with excellent enough results to view on my DLP 52 HD tv is to simply run ANYDvd in the BG incase you are backing up any recent movie release. Rip and shrink with DVDShrink to ISO and burn that ISO with DVD Decrypter. It is by far the best combination I've come accross. Like I said - 100% great results every time.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Sorry about the bold tags, it won't happen again.
I don't think the digital noise is from the compression because i've veiwed the movies from the compressed files all the way through and they don't have the DN. I assume it's in the burning stage. MY burner is a late 2003 Plextor PX-708A. When I use DVDShrink to compress and Nero to burn I get much more DN than when I use CloneDVD2 to compress and create an image and then burn with Alcohol120. The latter method gives much better results but I'm still getting the digital noise.

PS. the reason I used the /B tag is because I posted the question on a different forum and never even got one reply. I figure there are other people who have the same problem...

I've been using Verbatim DVD+R media I have gotten better results with that than with the Sony DVDCoaster+R media.I thought the Verbatims were one of the best.

    Sacajaweeda,
You just reminded me of a different question I have. How can you you rip and create an iso image from a DVD with 7 to 9 gigs on it with DVD Decrypter ? The instructions for creating ISO files with DVD Decrypter I saw only allowed an ISO image to be created from a DVD with less than 4.7 GBs. Am I overlooking something?

    Abond,
How can I take a DVD9 rip it with DVD Decrypter, create an ISO and have it compresed to fit on a DVD5? Is that possible or do I have to get a dual layer DVD burner to create the backup as a DVD9?

  12. If you want the backup as DVD9 you need DL DVD burner. If you want the backup as DVD5 you need to shrink the content with DVDShrink (for example). But this is nothing new.
I read your previous question as that it is not allowed to make an iso (not to burn an iso) with DVDDecrypter bigger than 4.7 GB. This is not true.
