I have read a lot of guides and posts and can't seem to find what I am looking for. I have a number of short video clips in vobs that I want to make into a compilation dvd with a basic menu. Nothing really fancy, just something that will allow me to title the video clips and play them on a stand alone dvd player.

I would ideally like to not have to convert the vobs into anything else, since that is the format I have them in right now. I don't know much about this, but I assume that I may need to create a new ifo somewhere along the way.

Any suggestions about the best program (or set of programs) to handle this?

    Many thanks!

I'd suggest that TMPGEnc DVD Author (30 day fully functional free trial) should be able to do the job you require, and is quite user-friendly.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks for the suggestion... I have been playing around with TMPGEnc DVD Author, and have had some success. However, I am realizing that I may need a more complicated menu, one that would allow a main menu, and submenus that would list the video clips.

Is TMPGEnc DVD Author able to do this? I haven't been able to find the option if it is there.

The other way around this would be to have the disc return to the track menu after a clip (chapter) is played. When I load similar theme clips in the same track (to create that second tier meny) the program creates them as chapters that will be played one into the next with no break. If I could have the end of the chapter send me back to the track menu instead of the start of the next chapter I would be golden.

    Any suggestions?

TDA can do what you are asking for. Once you choose 'Create Menu' you will options along the top edge like 'Edit Menu Theme', 'Menu display settings' and 'Firstplay action:.

If your not already doing this I suggust you experiment with the settings to get what you want using a couple of small files and DVD RW disks.

I see what you are describing, but I still don't see an easy way to do what I am wanting to. Can you be more specific?

    Thanks
