    I went through the posts in this forum, tried couple of things but could not resolve the issue I am having.

    I have a MOV file (from minolta digital camera) which I wanted to encode in TMPGenc (and burn a video disk).
    When I load the file into TMPGenc, the video plays well but instead of the sound there is just loud high pitch noise.
    The MOV file by the way plays great in the QuickTime player.

    I found the QuickTime plug-in for TMPGenc - QTReader.vfp file on this site and following the instruction I've put it into the TMPGenc folder but there was no help, no sound just the loud noise.

    When I installed the QuickTime with the iTunes I did install all the codecs that were offered to me at that time.

    I was aslo playing with the setup in the TMPGenc. The latest one I tried was:
    Option - Preferences - Input plug-in setting
    standard input plug in: check marks only for Quick Time Reader and VFAPI Frame server file reader
    VFAPI plug-in priority order: check mark only for DirectShow Multimedia File Reader
    (prior to it in both submenus I had all check marks selected)
    No difference.

    As for the versions of the software, I have installed:
    TMPGenc Xpress 3.0.4.24
    iTunes 6.0.1.3.
    QuickTimePLayer 7.0.3

    Could anybody tell me how can I encode MOV in TMPGenc.
    Thanks a lot.

    QTReader may not help as it's rather old and not updated as often.

    You may have to go a roundabout way by using AVISynth

    It seems to me that the video is coming in fine, but it's the audio giving you grief. TMPGEnc's inbuilt audio handling was very ordinary back in the TMPGEnc Free and TMPGEnc Plus days. Would it be possible to decompress the audio to a WAV then feed that into TMPGEnc ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

    @kschang
    I'll definitely try AVISynth as soon as I get enough time to learn about scripts since I've never dealt with scripts before.

    @jimmalenko
    Yes, the video is not a issue, just the audio. I believe with some proper utility I could take the audio from the original mov file and make wav. I'm not yet sure what utility to use in this case but I will search for it.

    It would be really nice if it were some kind of better QuickTime plug-in or some other fix or setup change for TMPGenc, that would make things really simple, but what can we do.
    Thanks both of you!

    Wait, if you got the VIDEO fine, then I'd just open QT Player, and see if you can save the audio to WAV, then encode it to CBR MP2 (using TooLame or BeSweet) and then mux it to the video?

    I've just tried to use "Save as..." in QuickTime player (free version).
    However, in order to have that option enabled I need to have the "Pro" version of the QT which I don't have currently.
    I guess I have to get the QT Pro.
    Thanks.

    No, wait! One more choice... QuickTime Alternative. If you can play it, you can get its components through AVISynth. IN fact, Baldrick wrote a guide just for that.

    Rad Video Tools will quickly convert your .MOV audio to .WAV, if you don't want to use Avisynth. Just open the program, and click "convert a file" at the bottom after selecting your .mov. On the next screen, uncheck the convert video box, and check the convert audio box. Enter 48000 in the rate box(for DVD spec.), check "to 16-bit stereo," and click convert.
