    Hi Baldrick / Mods,

I've a request / suggestion for an enhancement to the site, but don't know if it's possible from a coding perspective. But here goes...

Scenario: I either start a thread or post replies in an existing one. When someone posts in that thread, my "View your posts" list of threads (https://forum.videohelp.com/search.php?search_id=egosearch) will show a red page icon next to any threads with new posts. When I have read these threads, the page icon becomes a white one.

I often read a reply and think "I'll get back to that thread, but not right now".

Request: Is there any way of being able to mark such threads as "unread" so that the red page icon shows and therefore I can see which threads I either haven't read or want to go back to?

    Cheers,
    Daamon.

  2. Hi Daemon,

I don't suppose you have tried using the RSS feeds to manage your VH experience? You can achieve much the same thing with an RSS reader.

    Just a thought.

Hmm... I've downloaded the Klipfolio RSS reader and added a few feeds.

This doesn't display the feeds as a "ticker" along the bottom, it looks like this:

However, I don't see how I can set it (or any other RSS feed) up to show me only the threads I've posted in and, of those, which ones have got new posts.

Further, once I've read a post, there's no way to mark it as "unread" so that I can use "unread" posts as a means of tracking which ones I want to revisit.

I got the original idea from my Yahoo email:

I'll get an email, have a read and think "I won't reply now, but I'll mark it as unread to make sure I go back to it".

This can be done in one of two ways:

I would like to be able to do the same with threads I've posted in - read, not reply now, but mark as "unread" so they stand out so I know which ones I want to go back to.

I can't see how I would get an RSS feed to meet that requirement.

  5. I see. You want to mark a read post as unread if you have not replied to it, and wish to do that later?

Some RSS clients do act like newsreaders but that particular function, I'm not so sure. Perhaps if you try a few you might find one that will help, or, one that you might run a macro on and get a similar result.

    Yes, exactly that.
