    Hello there, this is my first post, I've looked around and not found any info on this problem. I'm totally new to DVD burning.

    I'm using AnyDVD with DVDShrink. Single layer discs burn and navigate perfectly but if I make a copy to a double layer disc I can't access items on the second layer from the menu. It causes my player to just drop out to it's screensaver page.

    If I'm watching material that runs into the second layer it can make that transition, but can't jump there directly from the menu.

    I'm suspecting software or maybe a setting somewhere but these discs are expensive so I'd like to find out what it is.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Russ

    I see the same problem.

    However I believe that the problem is in the palyer not the disk.

    I make dl dvds with a second page memu items. They play fine in two of my players but not in my Samsung DVD-L75.

    Try upgrading the firmware in the DVD player.

    Thanks for the reply. I was suspecting the player except I get the same behaviour on 4 different players, one being the burner it was made on.

    Thanks

    what about pressed discs as opposed to burned discs? if you use the menu to select a track on the second layer do you get the same results as you describe above?

    I'm sorry, I'm so new I don't know the difference between pressed and burned, maybe mine are pressed not burned. Could you please enlighten me?

    the general consensus on this forum is to make the most compatible DL burns you should use RecordNow Max 7.3 and have a chapter point somewhere shortly after the halfway point of the disc. I've done this with a movie only, however, and not a menu disc.

    Verbatim DL media seems to be well recommended as well.

    pressed = purchased media

    burned = home made media from blank discs

    O.K. thanks, yes purchased dvd's work fine. Now the problem could be that these are the first time I've tried DVD+R as that's all I could find dual layer in. However, as I mentioned this problem exists on 4 different players including the burner it was made on so I highly believe it is a problem on the disc.
