  1. I have been burning DVDs for a little while now. It is all self taught so Im constantly messing it up. I am now using an optorite dd0405 and top notch media. I'm also burning at 4x using Nero 7, or DVDshrink which uses the nero engine. I have been getting skipping half to 3/4 way into the movie, and have only been able to resolve this issue by restarting the computer after every burn (to reset the buffer). Is this necessary? Is there a way to reset the buffer wihtout a restart? Is Nero the root of my problem? What programs should I be using? Any input is much appreciated

'top notch media'? Unfortunately, even some of the more 'expensive' media play up. Check for media compatability with your drive-its on the forum. Could also be a bad batch of media? Could be a slight scratch/grease mark on disc? Could be that DVD Player does not like that media burnt at 4x. Try 2x? Maybe even use DVD Decrypter as burner-can be used with DVDShrink.
