HI there folks. Just recently bought a Mac Mini and I'm trying to get Quicktime to play MPEG2s that I converted with Tsunami Converter and ultimately trying to get them to import into iDVD. I installed the Mpeg2 add in to quicktime but when I try to play them, it still tells me the file type isn't correct or something of that nature. iDVD gives me the same message. How do I fix this? Also, is there a program that would tell me what kind of Mpeg I have. Like 1, 2 or 4 and the properties of the MPEG? Thanks!

For which platform? If you are asking questions about a Mac, we have a Mac Forum.

One of the popular programs for the PC for finding out the properties of a video is Gspot. Not sure what the equivalent is for a Mac.

But in order to understand Gspot's info, you have to learn more about the formats. MPEG and AVI are just categories of video. There are many, many variations of both.

If you want to learn a little about the DVD format, look to the upper left for 'What is' DVD. <<<<<<<

I don't know if a third party editor would help your particular problem, but
this QT package advertises .mp4 support, video and audio editing, and burning to dvd:
