  1. Hello All,

I frequently read but seldomely post so please bare with me. I have recently purchased an xbox360 and would like to utilize the streaming with the extender. I have a 400+ movie libary on my NAS unit, all dvix / xvid .avi format ripped with dvddecryptor and encoded with autogk using target size 75%, playback on my pc is great can't complain, but the xbox doesn't support avi / divix / xvid. My choices are mpeg2 / wmv I need assistance on how to get this done, Harddisk space is not an issue I have over a terabyte and still adding. Please give me your recomendations and why you recomend that. I would like to retain picture quality and sound in dolby 5.1 if possible, as these are being streamed to 16:1 aspect on a 60" hitachi lsd. I thank you all in advance.

    Zack

  2. Videora makes an Xbox360 converter that will take those Files in Divx/xvid and make them Mpeg files usable in the Extender, just google Videora Xbox360 Coverter.

I am curious why you want to play the video files on an xbox when they already play on a normal computer. What is the advantage of using a game console?

well i cant speak for the xbox 360 (buying one soon though) but i play all my divx/xvid on my normal xbox with xbox media centre loaded on it. i find it a LOT better/easier than using my pc as i can use the xbox out in the living room to play them just like i would use my dvd player or even easier yet still have a whole big collection on the xbox's hdd just like with a pc or i can stream them from my pc to the xbox and play them just sitting on my couch with the xbox remote. different things work for different people but from my experience it is a great way to play your divx/xvid collection and yes ive done the whole playing them from the pc on the tv thing for a couple of years before using the xbox.

Well streaming them from my pc to my living room where the xbox360 is housed. I will probally just mod my old xbox up and use that as xbmc seeing as it's a huge pain to re-encode everything.
