hi, im trying to fit 13 avi files onto a 4.7dvd-r using deepburner. It will be a data dvd that you play on your computer not a dvd player. it is about 50megs to big to fir, is there a tool i can use to compress it to fit onto the 1 disk. Also am i likely to loose much quality if i spread the compression over each file
thanks

It is impossible to say how much impact reencoding migt have on a given file without seeing it. I would start by seeing you can trim things like credits off the end, rather than squeezing the video further. There might also be saving in compressing the audio rather than the video, although they wont be as great. 50mb isn't a big ask though.
The other choice might be to try to overbur the disk, if deepburner supports it.Read my blog here.

Another suggestion:
Edit the AVI's to cut out commercials, intros, and outtros.
I do this on some of my Anime episodes: I cut the intro and the outtro but leave one copy on the disc as the first and last menu items. Then I put 3-4 episodes in the middle with no intro and no outtro, saved myself both encoding time and disc space.
It's a little time consuming, but should not lose any quality. -
all adverts, credits and such has been cut out. the only thing left to do is compress it
after all 50meg is only like compressing it 1.25% so it carnt do that much harm
