  1. I have a LiteON SOHW-1693S http://www.liteon.com/prod/getProduct.do?xml_id=4_2&menu_id=4_2_7&cid=1_7_13&pid=107 which I believe is a dual layer burner. I guess I need to know what software or burner program I need to do dual layer burns? I have RecordNow and RecordNow Max. Also I have a version of Nero that came with the burner.

Is there anything special or different than burning a single layer that I should be aware of? Finally what is a good brand of dual layer media to buy? Thanks for any help.

You can do a search on this forum for 'dual layer burning' and get over 100 hits that should give you some good info.

The simplest program to use is DVD Decrypter, ISO read>ISO write.

Verbatim DL discs seem to work well for most burners.

  3. Hey thanks. I have DVD Decrypter however I didn't realize it was that simple to do a dual layer. I assume the burner knows when to switch layers? Anyway I shall pick up some Verbatim DL discs tomorrow and go for it.

The two programs I've use are .......

CopytoDVD with DVDFab Platinum (Express Mode) makes a 1:1 in an hour

and I used ... last night ... Sonic RecordNow Deluxe v7.21 ... took 2 hours to process and another 2 hours to verify.

and earlier today ... while I was taking care of some errands ... I started another copy/burning project and ETA time said 17 minutes ... how long did it really take ???

I don't know ... it was finished when I got home ... I was gone for about 4 hours at least.

I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL ... right now $20 bucks for a 10 pack at Best Buy

Oh ... my burners are ... the PIONEER DVR-109 [mounted inside a USB external enclosure] and the Panasonic SW-9585S ... I also have the ...... Lite On SOHW-1693S but I haven't tried it to burn a DL disk.

Send me an PM and I'll let you in on a helpful tip

One question. If I use DVD Decrypter in ISO mode will it create the VIDEO_TS folder and put all the filles in that folder?

Doing dvddecrypter in ISO read will put only one file on your computer (the ISO Image, which is the entire dvd itself lumped into one neatly packaged product), no VideoTS folders.

  7. OK I bought two 10 packs of Verbatim 6X dual layer DVD+R discs today at BestBuy on sale for $20 per 10 pack. I used DVD decrypter in ISO mode and my fist burn is perfect. Thanks for the help.
