  1. I have been using an Athlon 1.2GHz for DV capture, video editing and DVD making for 2 years. All in the sudden, the audio in my PC is dead. This make video editing pretty difficult as I need to hear audio from the video to decide where to put chapter marks.
The main issue is, there is no audio in any application, even trying Windows sounds result in no audio.
I try to connect the head phones (known to be good) to the audio out of the PC and still no sound.
Is my sound card dead ? or is this is hick up in the audio driver ?

Sounds like an audio driver hiccup. Uninstall your soundcard in the control panel and restart the system allowing windows to find it and reinstall it. If that doesn't work, try downloading the latest drivers for your card and install them.

    ktnwin,

Double click on the speaker in the task bar to bring up the volume control display. Check to see if the Wave Out Volume slider is not set to minimum.

    Just a thought,

  6. I tried last night, remove the sound device and re-boot the system, it detects the sound device and ask for the driver (which I tell it to use the same driver file as before) and now the sound comes back.
This make video editing a lot easier (and I can listen to music + other things).
Thanks a bunch for the help.
