  1. I'm trying to back up my Red vs Blue season 3 disc to a dual layer dvd+r. Size is not an issue for a dual layer disc. AFAIK, there is no copy protection on the disc. However, when I used DVD Decrypter, it didn't work. Here was my process (it worked with ps2 games, so I figured it would work here too).

In dvd decrypter, I went to mode->iso->read. This created an iso on my hard drive

Then I changed it to mode->iso->write and burned.

It burned successfully, but it didn't work in my dvd player which plays regular dvd+r discs. However, this is the first dvd+rDL I've tried in it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Check your DVD player's model in the list of DVD Players to the left to make sure the player will handle DVD+R DL discs first - that way you can be sure o compatibility.

Not all set tops play them, trust me!

    Happy Hunting!

I have to agree with TaoTeWingChun.

I've only burned one DVD+R DL disk. Other than the burner itself, my XBox is the only system that I have that would play the disc. Not my Pioneer DVD Recorder, not my PS2, and not the DVD-ROM on my laptop.

I haven't wasted any more money on DL media since then.

I own a 2nd generation PS2, a model that begins wth 350001, and trust me - if it's not DVD-R or DVD-RW, forget playing anything with a '+' on it.

Sony has so many variations of the DVD-ROMs in their own PS2 line, and also so many different generations of the same product (original vs slimline design) that some discs pay on models that others cannot even recognize.

    Cheers!

It's one of the newer slimline models. I don't know what the model number starts with.

I haven't tried playing anything other than original DVD's in it, so I don't know whether +R's or -R's will play in it. I don't need to use it as a DVD player anyway.

I have Backup Copies of Few DVD's on +DL Disc using DVD Decrpyter in File mode and then used DVD Shrink using No compression..
Here's the funny thing they all play on my Sony 5 changer Model#DVP-C650D but all of them hits back few chapers automatically..
But when I play them on Xbox V.3 with Samsung Drive it works fine..
Once again I think everyone has to wait till Better DVD player comes along that reads Burned +DL or -DL..

Try changing the book type (using DVD Decrypter) to change the book type to DVD-ROM before burning the image ("Change book type" is in the lower right corner).

  10. I just wanted to let everyone know that it was in fact the DVD player I was using. I tested it in an xbox and a newer sony player (can't remember the model) and they both worked. Thanks for all the replies!
