  1. I am getting really annoyed by Nero.
I used to use it all the time and have never had any problems now all of a
sudden I keep getting a "calibration error" I've tried a bunch of fixes by
looking around Google, but none have worked.
I'm burning avi files to DVD, it transcodes them fine, it is during the
burning process that it fails (and i'm losing tonnes of disks) although now
    I use RW's.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Or can anyone recommend a reasonably priced program that I can burn avi files to DVD with? And have menus etc? It has to be able to do avi files without converting them.
    Any help is really apprecaited.

I use Prassi Ones and am happy with it. VSO CopytoDVD is also very good. None of these transcode however. They just burn.

Even when I did use Nero, back in the day, I wouldn't let it near my video. I only ever used it to burn.

A 'Power Calibration Error' is usually related to a problem with the burner or the media. Try different media, or try cleaning the laser lens on the burner.

It doesn't convert avi to DVD, if that is what you are asking. But there are a number of programs and ways to do it better than Nero does anyway.

DivxtoDVD converts and burns (payware version)
