Strange error with Nero??

I encode the movies [NTSC] Mpeg1, for a VCD I'm gonna make.
I open up nero [5.5], choose to make a new VCD, selct all the options..etc

I then make a menu, and configure the stuff for that.
All is going great until I tell it to burn,
The new window pops up witht he buffer going and everything, and my CD drive is whirrrring, then Nero ejects my blank cd and tells me to insert a blank medium into the drive...saying what i have put int he drive is NOTHING or empty???

If anyone can help in any way I'm truly thankful,

I would think that more than likely you are having a medium recognition problem. Have you burned other stuff with these disks with this burner with other software ok. Sorry if this seems too simple a question.

I have not tried any menuing yet but am burning vcds ok.

Yeah, after a lot of thought, I tried to burn just a normal music CD with one of these blanks CDR's...with Hotburn.

Well the long and short of it is, that the CDR's I was using were to say the least CRAP..
They must have been manufactured very poorly or something, and wouldn't even register as being a CDR.
So I bpught some better quality ones, and whoohoo they work, menu and all...
