My problem lies in the reencoding of the video i THINK, but any usefull info might help...here's whats going on.
I'm recording vhs to dvd thru a sony standalone to dvd+rw discs. The end result on the dvdrw disc is fine (no out of syncness) I take in the rw disc thru decryptor, and run it thru TMPGEnc Dvd Author, make chapters, menus and go to put it to disc.
Now somewhere in that process (and the video/audio is still fine after using decryptor) from regular vob stream with no menu/chapters to end TMPGEnc the audio loses sync. Most noteably if the video hits a 'jumpy' spot the audio is then about 2 seconds behind.
Now, i've routed out the possibility that my cpu or the program is where the issue lies, cus i've taken in discs i've got from other people, gave said discs the same treatment, and they've come out peachy keen.
I'm thinking that the problem lies somewhere either in the original recording on the stand alone (with the video/audio output) OR in the reencoding process (perhaps the video/audio pre isn't compatible w/ the end process)
either way, its giving me a HUGE headache, and i've just about ran out of possibilities to check out.
so, guess my question is basically, with that info (or if more is needed please ask and perhaps i can field more, that might be more significant than i think it is) what seems to be the problem.
(oh, its not the program either, the same thing happened with a Ulead program, as well as DVDLab)
Also, as a side step, if anyone has info on a good menu/chapter creator, that doesn't have to reencode the video/audio streams, that could be an option as well, as like i said before, pre reencoding with any of these programs, everything works fine.
thanks for any help anyone might have

the video is not reencoded if you use dvd decrypter and tmpgenc dvd author or dvd-lab. the video and audio are just splitted and reauthored.

is there a way to have it not split the audio, or to get the audio back in line with the video

FWIW... As Baldrick posted...
You're starting with a DVD (sort of), with separate audio & video streams -- m2v video doesn't actually include the audio, but is along side of it in an mpg2 file. You're authoring prog. puts these two streams in another sort of container with pointers to times within the video (chapters). From what you've posted, you're not really doing anything to alter either video or audio stream.
The video encoding using your Sony DVR might be a little off std I suppose, or you might be mis-setting audio delay, but talking about a *jumpy* spot leads me to suggest taking a look at your media & trying something else. -
I'm thinking a new possibility may be something i read last night about how occasionally the video stream is a part of a second ahead of the audio stream, and is corrected by chopping that part of the video from the first chapter.
this makes some sense, basically because the first chapter is almost always the only chapter it does this in.
i'm gonna try this, first....if that doesn't work, is there a way to check my dvr to see if it is setting a delay with my media. (however again i state that the image burnt to rw is perfect)
