I was wondering, can you record a show on a DVD+R, stop it, and record an other show later, or is it just a "ONE SHOT" deal?
Once you hit the "Stop" button, that's it, its permanent?

You can hit STOP and RECORD on a DVD+R and -R as many times as you want until you fill the disc. The recording is "permanent", however, in the sense that even if you erase a particular recording, you cannot regain that erased space on the disc. You must still "finalize" the disc in order for it to be playable on other machines besides the recorder. Once this is done, you cannot erase or record on the disc any further.

I don't know your machine, but in general you can write to it many times until it's full. Each session will be a new chapter and you need to finalize it to make it playable in other machines. You can finalize it at any time, but once you do you cannot write to it any more...and that's final.
Edit: What he said."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
I don't know what machine you have, but I gather that its a + disk unit. Why not use +RW disk's they dont have to be finalized and while you can't use the space used, empty or not, you can erase the disk and use it again and again

LCHG...lol..funny you mentioned that....I used +RW's, even finalized, but for some reason when I play it on a SONY DVD player, it plays for a while then Freezes up and starts going, skips, and starts over at times...so I figured it to be the format.
Had someone tell me "Why on earth do you use RW's" for on here. -

Why would you wan't to finalize a +rW disk they do not require it. My mochine will refuse to do so.
Sony --- Sorry to say , That is most likely the worst machine, they won't play many disks or play them correctly That could be the problem. Try playing the disk on another machine. Not Sony

If I buy a DVD Recorder I expect it to play it on another player, it's not the SONY, its the DVD Recorder
Think about it, it's obvious they've yet to "perfect" the DVD Recording Technology so that it can play on EVERY PLAYER
Well, I stand corrected, they do put out MOVIES that play DVD's right?
So explain this, how can my SONY DVD Machine is able to play movies that you buy at the store? -
I used to buy Sony, They were well made and worked well. Today. thats not true.
They have become so obsess and paranoid with copy protection, to a point thet a lot of their equipment will not operate properly.and much of their copy schmes have been a problem for more than one DVD maker
I didn;t say go out and buy another unit, Just try the disk on another unit. Not a Sony
Again we don't know the make of recorder you are using. But I guess you can blame your problem on it.
Yes Sony makes movies. with their copy prtection schmes.
I have 3 DVD recorders all +R/+RW. No problem with any mfg disk or a reasonably new machine [ 5 yr old] except a Sony which is either intermitent or will not play
If you get another recorder try a -Disk unit. The Sony may play it -

I have two different burners in my computer, an old Philips +R/RW Recorder, 3 DVD players(none of them Sony) and have had ONE person tell me that my DVD's would not play in their particular player....it was an older Sony that won't even play freaking CD-R's.
My DVD's from both my Philips DVD Recorder and both of my burners play perfectly in all 3 of my DVD players.
Nope...it's the Sony. -
With sony there players and recorders will only play sony sony sony.I had purchased a sony dvd recorder and brought it back once i found out i could not use my collection of blank dvds in there machines. Its a monopoly for sony they dont want anyone elses media in there machines for some reason.
